About this coloring page
A cat sits beside a round fishbowl on a small stand, with one paw lifted and resting against the glass. Inside the bowl there is a water line, two bubbles, and a fish swimming with its tail fanned out. The cat stands tall with its ears up and its eyes on the fish.
This page tells a little story, and kids enjoy guessing what the cat will do next. The bowl has several separate areas, including the water, the air above it, the fish, the bubbles, and the stand. That gives children practice deciding which spaces belong together before they start.
Color ideas
- Make the fish orange like a goldfish and leave its eye white with a dark center.
- Color the water below the line light blue, and leave the space above the water white or very pale.
- Give the stand under the bowl a wood brown or a bright painted color so the bowl does not float.
Did you know?
- Goldfish were first kept as pets in China more than a thousand years ago.
- Pet fish do best in a tank big enough for them to swim around, with clean, filtered water.
Try this
Draw a few pebbles and a water plant at the bottom of the bowl, then talk about what a fish needs to stay healthy.
