Dogs & Puppies Coloring Pages

This set is all about dogs and puppies doing what dogs do best: playing, chewing, grinning, napping, and waiting at home. There are two big close-up faces, a puppy with a ball, a dog peeking out of its kennel, and a curly poodle with a bow on its head.

Most of the pages are made of large, rounded shapes with thick outlines, which makes them a comfortable fit for toddlers and preschoolers. The poodle, with its overlapping pom-poms, is the one to hand to a child who wants a little more of a challenge.

Dogs come in more colors and coat types than almost any other pet, so there is no wrong answer here. You can use these pages to talk about different breeds, how to greet a dog politely by asking the owner first, or what a puppy needs to stay healthy and happy.

Tips for coloring dogs & puppies

  • Real dog colors are mostly browns, tans, creams, blacks, grays, and reddish golds. Try mixing two of them, such as a tan body with a black back or a white face with brown ears.
  • Ears are a great place for a second color. Many dogs, like beagles and spaniels, have ears darker than their faces.
  • To make spots like a Dalmatian, color the dog white or leave it blank, then add round black dots of different sizes. Keep a few spots on the ears and tail too.
  • Leave a small white dot in each dark eye and on the nose. That tiny shine makes a dog look bright and alert.
