About this coloring page
A round-headed puppy stands facing forward with big floppy ears on both sides of its face. It has two dot eyes, a wide nose, a little curl of a tongue under its mouth, an oval body, short straight lines for legs, and a tail that curves high up on the right.
The head and body are two simple, generous shapes, which makes this a good starting page for the youngest kids. The legs are just single lines, so there is nothing tiny to fill in. The ears and tail are fun places to try a darker color.
Color ideas
- Color the floppy ears dark brown and the head a lighter tan, like a beagle puppy.
- Make the little tongue under the mouth pink so the puppy looks happy and panting.
- Add a colored collar where the head meets the body, with a round tag hanging from it.
Did you know?
- Puppies are born with their eyes and ears closed. Their eyes usually open at around two weeks old.
- When a dog wants to play, it often does a "play bow", with its front legs stretched out low and its back end up in the air.
Try this
Draw a toy for the puppy to chase, like a rope, a squeaky bone, or a stick. Then talk about which toys are safe for real puppies.
