About this coloring page
A small house with a pointed roof and a flag on top sits inside the leafy crown of a tree. It has two round windows with crossed panes and an arched door set into the trunk, which runs down through the middle of the house to the ground. A ladder leans against the left side, a little bucket hangs from a rope on the right, and two sparkles float nearby.
The big, cloud-shaped treetop gives plenty of room to fill, and the house sits in front of it with clear edges. The ladder rungs and the bucket are small, so save them as a finishing task once the main parts are done.
Color ideas
- Color the treetop with several greens, using small circular scribbles to give it a leafy texture.
- Make the trunk brown and the house walls a contrasting color, such as pale yellow, so the two are easy to tell apart.
- Give the little flag on the roof a bright color and the hanging bucket a metal gray.
Did you know?
- In J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, first performed as a play in 1904, the fairy Tinker Bell has her own tiny room inside the Lost Boys' home.
- In 1917, two young cousins in Cottingley, England, took photographs that seemed to show real fairies. Many people believed them, and decades later the cousins admitted the fairies were paper cutouts.
Try this
Ask your child to plan the inside of the treehouse: how many rooms it has, where the fairy sleeps and what the bucket is used for. Draw one room on the back of the page.
