About this coloring page

A workshop robot stands beside two big loose gears, with a third gear set into its own chest. Its square head has round eyes, a mouth line and an antenna. One arm bends down at a right angle, and the other ends in a round hand. Every gear has a ring of small square teeth and a round hole in the center.

The gear teeth make this the most detailed page in the robot set, with many small squares to color one at a time. It is a good choice for older kids who enjoy patient, careful coloring, or for sharing between two people working on different gears.

Color ideas

  • Color each of the three gears a different metal: gold, silver and copper.
  • Make the gear teeth a darker shade than the gear's ring so the teeth stand out.
  • Paint the robot's head and body a bright blue so it does not blend in with the metal gears.

Did you know?

  • When two gears touch and one turns, the gear next to it turns the opposite way.
  • If a small gear is linked to a big gear, the small one spins faster. Bicycles and clocks use this idea to change speed.

Try this

Draw arrows on each gear showing which way it would turn if the big top gear spun clockwise, remembering that gears touching each other turn in opposite directions.
