About this coloring page
A wedge of layered cake sits on a plate. A wavy line of frosting runs across the top layer, and two straight lines below divide the slice into layers. A round cherry with a curved stem sits on top, and a four-pointed sugar star and two small circles decorate the side. Another sparkle shines in the corner.
The slanted layers are long, narrow strips, so it takes some care to stay inside each one. The star and the two circles break up the lower layers into smaller spaces, giving older kids a little puzzle to work through.
Color ideas
- Color each layer a different flavor, such as chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
- Make the cherry a deep red with a green or brown stem.
- Color the sugar star gold and the plate a pale blue or patterned with dots.
Did you know?
- People say "the cherry on top" to mean a nice extra touch that makes something even better.
- Cherries grow on trees and belong to the same plant family as plums, peaches and apricots.
Try this
Draw a whole round cake on scrap paper and cut it into equal slices, then count how many pieces it would take to give everyone in your family one.
