Crab on the Sand Coloring Page

EasyAges 3-6Big, open shapes - good for a first crayon.

A wide crab with eyes on stalks and two big snapping claws.

Getting the page ready…

Pick a color, then tap inside any shape to fill it. Use the brush for the open areas and the eraser to take color back off.

About this coloring page

A cheerful crab stands on the sand with its two big claws raised high. Its eyes sit up on stalks, two curved lines on its wide body make a smile, and three thin legs reach down on each side.

The wide shell and the two notched claws are the main shapes to color, all of them roomy and easy to fill. The legs are drawn as lines, which can be traced over in the same color as the body.

Color ideas

  • Color the body and claws bright red, like a crab in a picture book.
  • Make the crab a sandy orange-brown with darker claws, closer to how many crabs look on the beach.
  • Color the eyestalks the same color as the body and leave a white shine in each eye.

Did you know?

  • Crabs have ten legs in all, and the front pair are their claws.
  • Many crabs walk sideways because of the way their leg joints bend.
  • A crab grows by shedding its hard shell and forming a new, bigger one.

Try this

Walk sideways across the room like a crab, then come back to the page and add legs until the crab has the ten that a real one has.
