About this coloring page
A tall spiral horn rises from a rectangular band in the center of the page, with a daisy-like flower on each side. Below the band, curved strands sweep down like a mane, and five four-pointed sparkles are scattered around, including one tucked between the strands at the bottom.
This page has more small spaces than the rest of the unicorn set, especially the flower petals and the narrow stripes on the horn. It suits a child who enjoys taking their time, and the repeating stripes are perfect for trying out a color pattern.
Color ideas
- Color the horn's stripes in a repeating pattern, such as gold, white, gold, white, so the spiral stands out.
- Give each flower a bright center and petals in two colors that alternate around the circle.
- Turn the rectangular band into a jeweled crown with a yellow base and small dots of red, green and blue on top.
Did you know?
- In the Middle Ages, many people believed a unicorn's horn could detect or cancel out poison, so kings and nobles paid huge sums for "unicorn horn" that was really narwhal tusk.
- Denmark's royal Throne Chair, made in the 1600s and kept at Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen, is built largely from narwhal tusk, which people of the time prized as unicorn horn.
- A unicorn's horn has its own old name: an alicorn.
Try this
Before starting, pick a pattern for the horn and say it out loud, such as "pink, purple, pink, purple." When you finish, check together that the pattern never breaks on the way to the tip.
