About this coloring page
A tall grown-up unicorn stands beside a much smaller foal on a long ground line. Both have a horn, a wavy mane, an oval body, four thin legs and a curved tail, and a single sparkle shines in the sky above the bigger one.
Comparing the two animals is half the fun, because the same shapes appear twice, once large and once small. Little ones can color the big unicorn first and then try to copy those colors onto the foal, or give the baby a completely different look.
Color ideas
- Color the grown unicorn's body a deep violet and the foal's body a lighter lilac so they look related.
- Give both manes the same pattern, perhaps stripes of blue and pink, to show they are family.
- Use a green crayon to add grass along the ground line under all eight hooves.
Did you know?
- On Scotland's royal coat of arms, the unicorn wears a gold chain, which is often explained as a sign of how wild and strong the animal was believed to be.
- Stories usually picture unicorns as horse-like, and a real baby horse is called a foal. Most foals can stand up within an hour or two of being born.
Try this
Count the legs on each unicorn, then add them together. Next, choose names for the parent and the foal and tell a short story about where the two of them are going.
