About this coloring page
Two strings of bunting hang across the page in gentle curves, each holding six triangle flags pointing down, for twelve flags in all. Between the strings, a sparkle sits in the middle with a small dot on each side, filling the gap like a bit of floating confetti.
Two matching rows of flags make this an excellent counting page. Kids can make a repeating color pattern along each string, which is an early math skill dressed up as decorating.
Color ideas
- Color the flags in a repeating pattern, such as red, yellow, blue, red, yellow, blue.
- Write one letter of your child's name on each flag before coloring, adding more flags if needed.
- Make the two strings a golden yellow so they look like ribbon.
Did you know?
- The word bunting first meant a light, woolen fabric that was used to make flags.
- Ships use a set of colored signal flags, with a different flag for each letter of the alphabet, to send messages to each other.
Try this
Make your own bunting by cutting triangles from scrap paper, coloring them and taping them along a piece of string to hang in the room.
