MediumAges 5-8More shapes and a few small spaces.

A planet with wide tilted rings and craters to fill in.

Getting the page ready…

Pick a color, then tap inside any shape to fill it. Use the brush for the open areas and the eraser to take color back off.

About this coloring page

A round planet sits at an angle inside two wide, tilted rings. Three craters dot its surface, one near the top and two lower down, and the rings sweep across the front of the planet and around behind it. Four-pointed sparkles and small dots fill the corners.

Where the rings cross the planet, the shapes split into several curved strips, so this page asks for a bit more care than it first seems. Kids can choose to color the two rings alike or give each band its own color.

Color ideas

  • Color the planet pale yellow or tan and the rings a soft orange and cream, like Saturn.
  • Fill each of the three craters a darker shade of the planet's color so they look like dips in the surface.
  • Use deep blue around the sparkles in the corners and leave the sparkles themselves white.

Did you know?

  • Saturn's rings are made of countless pieces of ice and rock, from specks as small as dust to chunks as big as a house.
  • Saturn is not the only planet with rings. Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune have rings too, but theirs are much thinner and harder to see.

Try this

Draw a second little moon orbiting the planet, then make up a name for this new world and decide what color its sky would be.
