About this coloring page
A seahorse stands upright on the sand, its long snout pointing left and its tail curling into a hook at the bottom. Spikes stick up from its head and along its back, short lines cross its belly, and a little fin sits on its back. Three bubbles drift around it.
The body is a long, winding shape, so this is a good page for practicing slow, careful coloring along curves. The ridge lines across the belly can be left as they are or used to create stripes.
Color ideas
- Color the seahorse bright yellow and use orange for the spaces between the ridge lines on its belly.
- Make the small fin on its back a see-through pale blue, since real seahorse fins are thin and clear.
- Color the curled tail a little darker than the rest of the body to show it wrapping around.
Did you know?
- Male seahorses carry the eggs in a pouch on their bellies until the babies hatch.
- Seahorses are fish, and they swim upright by fluttering the small fin on their back.
- A seahorse wraps its tail around seagrass or coral to hold on when the water moves.
Try this
Draw a strand of seagrass next to the seahorse and change its tail so it looks like it is holding on.
