About this coloring page
A little unicorn stands on top of a puffy cloud, smiling as it looks out across the sky. Its horn, wavy mane, oval body and curved tail are drawn small, while the cloud beneath is wide and bumpy, with a four-pointed sparkle on each side.
The cloud is the biggest shape on the page, which makes it a good place for little hands to begin. The unicorn's legs are short lines that tuck into the top of the cloud, so watch that the body color and the cloud color don't run together there.
Color ideas
- Give the bumpy cloud a pale blue or lavender edge and leave its middle white so it looks soft and fluffy.
- Color the unicorn's body a sunrise shade, like peach or light pink, so it stands out against the cloud.
- Fill the two side sparkles with yellow and outline them in orange so they seem to glow.
Did you know?
- The word "unicorn" comes from the Latin unicornis, which means "one horn."
- Many artists in the Middle Ages painted unicorns with a goat-like beard and split hooves, so they looked quite different from the horse-like unicorns in picture books today.
Try this
Look out the window together and find a real cloud. What does its shape remind your child of? Draw that shape as a second cloud in an empty corner of the page.
