About this coloring page
A cherry tree spreads its branches in a V shape, and seven round clouds of blossom sit along them. The three clouds at the top are filled with flower patterns, while the four on the sides are plain circles. Three petals drift down beside the trunk.
The patterned clouds have many small petal shapes, which take time and a sharp crayon or colored pencil. The plain circles and trunk are quick to fill, so children can switch between detailed work and easy areas.
Color ideas
- Color the flower shapes in the top three clouds pink and the background inside those circles a pale pink.
- Make the four plain side circles a mix of white and light pink, like blossoms just opening.
- Give the trunk and branches a dark brown so the pinks look even brighter against them.
Did you know?
- In Japan, people gather under blooming cherry trees for picnics called hanami, which means "flower viewing."
- Cherry blossoms usually last only a week or two before the petals fall.
- In 1912, the city of Tokyo gave Washington, D.C., thousands of cherry trees as a gift of friendship.
Try this
Count the falling petals, then draw more of them floating down and gathering in a pink pile at the base of the tree.
