A fire truck with a roof ladder, a hose reel and a light on the cab.

Getting the page ready…

Pick a color, then tap inside any shape to fill it. Use the brush for the open areas and the eraser to take color back off.

About this coloring page

This fire engine carries a long ladder on its roof, split into five sections, with a cab and window at the front and a light box above it. Along the side there are two small equipment doors and a round hose reel that overlaps the back wheel.

The ladder sections and small doors add more pieces than most pages in this set, so it suits children who are ready for a little extra detail. Show them where the hose reel circle crosses the wheel; deciding which shape gets which color is part of the fun.

Color ideas

  • Classic fire-engine red for the body and cab, with the five ladder sections in silver or light gray.
  • Color the light box on the cab roof red and draw short yellow lines around it so it looks like it is flashing.
  • Make the round hose reel yellow, then draw a coiled hose spiral inside it before coloring.

Did you know?

  • Many fire trucks are red, but some fire departments paint theirs a yellow-green color because it is easier to see, especially at night.
  • Firefighters often use the name fire engine for the truck that pumps water through hoses, and ladder truck for the one that carries a very tall ladder.

Try this

Practice your family's home fire escape plan together, then add your outdoor meeting spot to the drawing as a tree or a mailbox beside the truck.
