About this coloring page
A boxy pickup truck rolls along a road marked with dashed lane lines. It has a tall cab with one big side window, an open cargo bed at the back and two round wheels with clear hubs.
With so few parts, this is a comfortable page for a child who is still learning to fill a shape all the way to the edge. The cab, bed and road are each large enough to color with a chunky crayon, and the empty sky above invites a sun, clouds or birds.
Color ideas
- Paint the cab and bed one bold color, such as turquoise or orange, so the whole truck reads as a single shape.
- Pile the empty bed high with drawn-in luggage, a tent or a bicycle before coloring, as if the family is heading off on vacation.
- Make the road dark gray and the lane dashes bright yellow, then add a green strip of grass beneath it.
Did you know?
- The open back of a pickup is called the bed, and the hinged panel at the very end that folds down is called the tailgate.
- In the United States, the Interstate Highway System that families use for long road trips was approved by Congress in 1956.
Try this
Plan a pretend road trip together: ask where the truck is going, then draw one thing it might pass along the way, such as a farm, a mountain or a gas station, on the empty part of the page.
