About this coloring page
This speedy car has a rounded body, a two-part side window and two wheels resting on a dashed road. Three speed lines streak through the air at the front, a small wing sits off the back corner, and a round shape on the roof could be the driver's helmet.
The body is one big, smooth shape, which makes it ideal for practicing even coloring from end to end. Point out that the wing and the round helmet shape float a little apart from the car, so kids know they are separate spaces to fill.
Color ideas
- Give the body a racing color like bright red or electric blue, and the rear wing a contrasting white or black.
- Draw a big number in a circle on the door panel and color it in, the way real race cars show their number.
- Use orange or yellow on the three speed lines so the car looks like it is zooming forward.
Did you know?
- The wing on the back of a race car works like an airplane wing turned upside down. Instead of lifting the car, it pushes it down onto the track so the tires grip better in turns.
- For dry tracks, many race cars use smooth tires with no tread, called slicks, because more rubber touching the road means more grip.
- A top racing team can change all four tires during a pit stop in just a few seconds.
Try this
Color a checkered finish flag on a scrap of paper by filling every other square in black, then cut it out and wave it when the race car is finished.
