About this coloring page
A round, smiling sun is surrounded by twelve oval rays. Its face has two raised eyebrows, round eyes with pupils and a wide grin with a small circle at each end for rosy cheeks.
The rays are separate ovals rather than spikes, so each one is its own little shape to fill. That makes them perfect for counting, or for trying a two-color pattern all the way around the circle.
Color ideas
- Color the twelve oval rays in an alternating pattern of yellow and orange.
- Fill the face with light yellow and make the two cheek circles pink or coral.
- Color the pupils dark brown, leaving a tiny dot of white paper in each one for a twinkle.
Did you know?
- The Sun is a star, the closest one to Earth, and it gives us light and warmth.
- Sunlight takes a little over 8 minutes to travel from the Sun to Earth.
- About 109 Earths could line up across the middle of the Sun. Never look straight at it, even when wearing sunglasses.
Try this
Count the rays with your child, touching each one as you go. Then count them again by twos and see if you still reach twelve.
