About this coloring page
This pine is built from three triangles stacked on top of each other, getting bigger toward the bottom. A small circle sits at the very tip, and a straight, square-sided trunk stands on a ground line.
Straight edges make this page good practice for coloring right up to a line. Where the triangles overlap, small triangle-shaped spaces appear between the tiers, so children can choose to color those as part of the tree or as shadow.
Color ideas
- Color the top triangle light green, the middle one medium green and the bottom one dark green for a layered look.
- Make the little circle at the tip a shining gold, like a bead or a topper.
- Color the small overlap spaces between the tiers a very dark green so each layer seems to sit behind the one above.
Did you know?
- Pine trees are evergreen, which means they keep green needles all year and only drop old ones a few at a time.
- Pine seeds grow inside pine cones.
- Pine needles grow in little bundles, and the number of needles in each bundle helps people tell different kinds of pine apart.
Try this
Draw a fourth tier, even wider than the bottom one, and see how tall your pine can grow before it reaches the ground line.
