About this coloring page
A broad oak tree takes up most of this page, with a big bumpy canopy like a cloud. Its short, thick trunk stands on a line of ground, with a curved stroke on each side and two little mounds in the grass.
The canopy is one huge space, which makes it ideal for a young child who loves to scribble color in. It is also a good page for practicing even coloring: going round and round the edge first, then filling the middle.
Color ideas
- Fill the canopy with a deep summer green and press harder along the bottom edge to show shade underneath.
- Color the canopy in patches of red, orange and yellow to turn it into an autumn oak.
- Give the trunk a gray-brown and the two little mounds a darker green, like tufts of grass.
Did you know?
- Oak trees grow acorns, and each acorn holds a seed that can become a new oak.
- Many oak trees live for hundreds of years.
- Squirrels and jays bury acorns to eat later, and the ones they forget can sprout into new trees.
