EasyAges 3-6Big, open shapes - good for a first crayon.

A smiling crescent moon surrounded by stars of different sizes and tiny twinkling dots.

Getting the page ready…

Pick a color, then tap inside any shape to fill it. Use the brush for the open areas and the eraser to take color back off.

About this coloring page

A tall crescent moon curves down the left side of the page, with a small dot eye and a gentle smile on its inner edge. Two five-pointed stars sit to its right, one larger than the other, along with a four-pointed sparkle and three little circles.

The crescent narrows toward its tips, which makes it good practice for coloring carefully along a curve. The rest of the page is simple and open, perfect for a calm session just before bed.

Color ideas

  • Color the crescent moon pale yellow or silver gray, with a little light gray shading near its inner curve.
  • Make the bigger star bright yellow and the smaller one a softer gold, as if it were farther away.
  • Fill the whole background with deep blue, leaving the three small circles white so they twinkle like tiny distant stars.

Did you know?

  • The Moon doesn't make its own light. It shines because sunlight bounces off its surface.
  • The Moon seems to change shape from crescent to full and back again about every 29 and a half days, because we see different amounts of its sunlit side.
  • In 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the Moon.

Try this

Look for the real Moon tonight and compare its shape with the one on this page. Is it a crescent, a half or a full circle? Draw what you saw in a corner of the paper.
