About this coloring page
A large five-pointed star streaks across the sky, trailing three long curved lines behind it. A smaller star rides at the end of one trail, and a four-pointed sparkle and three little circles are scattered around the page.
The trail lines don't enclose any spaces, so they're for tracing over with bright colors rather than filling in. That leaves the big star and the open sky as the main areas to color, which makes this a quick, satisfying page.
Color ideas
- Trace each curved trail with a different warm color, such as yellow, orange and red, to show a fiery streak.
- Color the big star bright yellow and the small star at the end of the trail a paler gold.
- Fill the sky with dark blue, working carefully around the three little circles so they look like faraway planets.
Did you know?
- A shooting star isn't really a star. It's a meteor: a small bit of rock or dust from space that heats up and glows as it rushes through Earth's air.
- Most meteors come from pieces smaller than a pebble. During a meteor shower, such as the Perseids each August, you might see dozens in an hour from a dark spot.
Try this
Count everything in the sky on this page, including stars, sparkles and circles. Then make up a name for the shooting star and decide where it is headed.
