About this coloring page
A rocket points straight up, ready to leave Earth behind. It has a sharp nose cone, a round window with a double rim, a wide body with a band near the bottom, and a triangular fin on each side. A single flame with jagged tips shoots out below, and small circles and a sparkle float in the sky around it.
Big symmetrical shapes make this a satisfying first space page. Kids can color the two fins to match, which is a nice early lesson in balance, and the flame is the perfect spot to practice blending warm colors together.
Color ideas
- Make the nose cone and both fins red, and keep the main body white or silver like a real rocket.
- Color the round window light blue and draw a tiny astronaut face peeking out of it.
- Shade the flame yellow at the top fading into orange and red at the jagged tips.
Did you know?
- In July 1969, the Apollo 11 mission landed on the Moon, and astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people to walk on its surface.
- A rocket rises by pushing hot gas down out of its engines very fast. As the gas rushes down, the rocket is pushed up.
- Rockets carry their own supply of oxygen to burn their fuel, because there is no air in space.
Try this
Count down from ten together and blast off with a jump on zero, then add a Moon somewhere on the page for the rocket to fly toward.
