About this coloring page
A kitten sits up straight and looks right at you with two round dot eyes. It has pointed ears with inner ear shapes, three whiskers on each side of its face, a little nose above its mouth, and a tail that curls up beside its body. Two small bumps at the bottom are its front paws.
The body is one big, smooth shape with plenty of room, so it works well for a first coloring session. Younger kids may need a reminder that the whiskers are thin lines to leave alone. The inner ears give a small space to try a second color.
Color ideas
- Make the inner ears soft pink and the rest of the head the same color as the body.
- Give the body a cream or white chest and a darker back, the way many real kittens look.
- Color the curled tail with rings of two alternating shades to turn it into a striped tabby tail.
Did you know?
- Kittens are born with their eyes closed. Their eyes usually open when they are about one to two weeks old.
- Many kittens have blue eyes at first. Their adult eye color, which might be green, gold, or copper, shows up as they grow.
Try this
Ask your child what the kitten might be looking at, then draw that thing next to it on the page, such as a butterfly, a toy mouse, or a bowl of milk.
