About this coloring page
A small round bird stands on a branch with its beak wide open, singing. Two curved lines float out from its beak to show the song, and two little feathers stick up from the top of its head. It has a dot eye, a pointed wing on its side, a leaf-shaped tail, and two thin legs.
The body and head are two big circles, which makes this an easy page to get started on. The open beak and song lines give kids something to talk about. What song is it singing? The tail and wing are good small shapes for a second color.
Color ideas
- Make the bird red like a cardinal, with a darker wing and a yellow-orange beak.
- Color the song lines in rainbow colors to show the tune floating through the air.
- Color the branch brown and add a few green leaves along it.
Did you know?
- Birds sing to claim their space and to attract a mate. Many birds sing most in the early morning.
- Many young songbirds learn their songs by listening to adult birds, a bit like children learning to talk.
Try this
Step outside or open a window for two minutes and listen for bird songs. Try whistling back what you hear, then finish coloring the bird.
