About this coloring page
A baby dragon with two pointed horns, round eyes and a fanged grin peeks out from the bottom half of a cracked egg. The shell's broken top edge forms a zigzag, three round spots decorate the outside, and a sparkle shines on each side.
The zigzag gives a strong, clear edge between the baby and its shell, which is good practice for switching colors at a boundary. The three spots are a comfortable size for small hands, and there's plenty of empty space around the egg for adding a nest.
Color ideas
- Color the eggshell a pale speckled blue, then fill the three round spots with a darker blue or purple.
- Give the baby's round head a bright green and keep the two tiny fangs white.
- Draw a nest of brown and yellow twigs underneath the egg and color it in.

Try this
Act out hatching together: first a tap, then a crack, then a peek. Afterward, draw a little three-picture strip showing what happened just before this moment.
